Brookhaven Lab's Joseph Wall Receives 2006 Award from the Microscopy Society of AmericaJoseph Wall, a senior biophysicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory, has been selected to receive the 2006 Distinguished Scientist Award for the Biological Sciences, the highest honor bestowed by the Microscopy Society of America, an affiliate society of the American Institute of Physics. The award is given for internationally recognized research accomplishments and distinguished contributions to microscopy.
Synthetic Peptide Developed by BioSET, Inc., Mimics Growth Factor Angiogenesis and Tissue RepairResearchers from BioSurface Engineering Technologies, Inc. (BioSET) and Brookhaven National Laboratory have developed a synthetic peptide that mimics the effects of a tissue growth factor known as fibroblast growth factor, or FGF. FGFs are a family of proteins in the human body responsible for the proliferation, repair, and differentiation of cells in many tissues. BioSET has an exclusive license to develop and market these bioactive analogs.
